Switchboard upgrades in the Perth Hills

Your switchboard is the heart of your home’s electrical system. If it still has ceramic fuses, limited safety switches or no room for new circuits, it’s time to talk to us.

  • Full RCD protection
  • Ready for EVs, air-con and solar
  • Neat, labelled and compliant

Why older switchboards need upgrading

Many homes in the Hills were built in the 1960s to 1980s and still have their original switchboards. They were designed for far fewer appliances than a modern household uses.

An upgraded switchboard gives every circuit modern protection, makes faults easier to isolate, and gives you the capacity to add air conditioning, an EV charger, solar or a battery down the track.

What a switchboard upgrade includes

RCD protection

Safety switches on every circuit, as required under current WA regulations for new work.

Modern circuit protection

Old rewireable fuses replaced with circuit breakers or combined RCBOs.

Clear labelling

Every circuit labelled so you know exactly what controls what.

Capacity for the future

Spare space for new circuits – air conditioning, EV chargers, workshops and more.

Solar & battery ready

Layouts that suit solar inverters and battery systems where relevant.

Testing & certification

Full testing on completion and the required compliance paperwork lodged.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Inspection

We look at your existing board, supply and wiring, and talk about what you’re planning to add.

  2. Step 2

    Clear quote

You receive a written, fixed quote explaining exactly what’s included.

  3. Step 3

    Scheduled installation

We book a time that suits you and let you know how long the power will be off.

  4. Step 4

    Test & handover

Every circuit is tested, labelled and explained before we leave.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a switchboard upgrade take?

Most residential upgrades are completed in a single day. We’ll tell you in advance how long the power will be off so you can plan around it.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade for an EV charger or air conditioner?

Not always. We check your existing board and supply first. If there’s space and adequate protection we can often add the new circuit without a full upgrade.

Is it a legal requirement to have RCDs?

In WA, homes must have at least two RCDs protecting power and lighting circuits before a property is sold or leased. New work must also be RCD protected. We can advise what your home needs.

My switchboard has an asbestos backing board – can you help?

Yes. Older boards often have backing boards that may contain asbestos. We’ll advise on the safest approach, which usually involves installing a new enclosure.
